The Edinburgh Electronic Medical Curriculum (EEMeC) is a collaborative project between the Medical Teaching Organisation and the Learning Technology Section of the Faculty Group of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.
Information systems are an increasing part of modern healthcare and as such EEMeC intrinsically supports informatics skills training.
Developed for the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine MBChB programme as a dedicated virtual learning environment for students. EEMeC contains all programme information and provides a comprehensive knowledgebase with study guides, subsidiary documentation, evaluations, forms, notices, discussion forums, student timetables and online resources used in the MBChB programme.
EEMeC also supports a number of dimensions of the MBChB assessment processes. The many virtual patient and tutorial packages offer a range of self-assessment options. The portfolio supports all of the coursework-based summative assessment. The peer-assessment of group work in years 1 and 2 all take place through EEMeC. Online summative OSCE’s are authored and delivered using an offshoot of EEMeC called OSCA and the management of the whole MBChB assessment process takes place in EEMeCâs Assessment Engine.
There are many other features and aspects to EEMeC. For more information please contact eemec@ed.ac.uk or visit https://www.eemec.med.ed.ac.uk/visitors/.
