IT Services are responsible for the hardware and basic configuration of the servers which host MVM’s Virtual Learning Enviroments (VLEs) and computer-based learning objects. These servers also are the home to several websites, applications and databases for The College.
Multiple Site Resiliency
We have at least three sites where we house servers in purpose-built installations.
The multi-site aspect to this service, enables us to provide cross-site backups, so data used at any site, can be recovered at another site in case of “disasters”.
Network Applications
We provide the home for over 300 applications. These include:
- MVM College VLEs (over 90 VLEs and VLE-related apps)
- Vet Services’ Radiology Systems (150 gigabytes)
- Web Applications and Web Sites (50 websites)
College-Wide Service
For our hosting service, our main customer is our own e-learning unit.
We have several other customers throughout MVM, who choose to host their web sites and web applications on our servers.
